My name is Teresa Bristol, an accomplished oil painter with a deep appreciation for nature, particularly trees and landscapes. My journey in art began with a lifelong fascination with art history, which I pursued academically at Southern Methodist University. There, I discovered my passion for painting and drawing through art studio electives. This hands-on experience transformed my love for observing art into a need to create it, sparking a level of focus and curiosity I had never experienced before.
My work captures the beauty of life and its inherent loneliness, reflecting the profound sense of presence I feel when immersed in nature. Painting serves as my anchor, providing a constant source of joy and stability, especially during life's turbulent moments. My artistic process revolves around concerns of color, proportion, and the play of light, allowing me to lose myself in the creative flow.
Creativity is integral to my life, enriching my relationships and helping my family and me appreciate the deeper aspects of people and nature. I have two daughters who inspire and support my artistic endeavors. Chloe, an accomplished artist and art director, has also illustrated several books. Audrey, who recently earned her Master of Social Work, is dedicated to helping adolescents and young adults struggling with substance use and mental health issues.
Originally from Dallas, I have recently relocated to Austin, marking a new chapter in my life. This move follows a significant personal transformation, and I am eager to immerse myself in Austin's vibrant art scene. My paintings have been featured in numerous art shows, where they have garnered recognition and acclaim.
I look forward to continuing my artistic journey, exploring the natural beauty around me, and contributing to the cultural tapestry of my new home in Austin.
